Big Ask Building

A few weeks ago Ask.com put their logo up on the building where I work (which happens to also be the building where their employees work) as part of the rollout of their company makeover. Their is one sign on each face of the building. As reported by the bulidng managment: Each sign measures 14 feet by 21 feet and weighs 2,350 lbs. Each of the signs is constructed from five (5) separate hollow aluminum pieces. Fascinating stuff. To placate the tenants we were given ice cream one afternoon and bagels and cofee two mornings in a row. Maybe we could have gotten more had anyone thought of complaining. It sure was nice to be greeted by bagels and coffee upon walking into the building.

The whole thing prodded me to check out the Ask.com site to see what it's all about. I was pleasantly surprised. The layout is very clean and you can customize the menu. I really like the advanced search options to narrow down the search and the binoculars feature which lets you preview pages so you can see what you're getting before you click, though it's not on every page yet as it's still populating through the pages. The most brilliant feature is easy access unit and currency converters - so useful and so simple. Only time will tell how much I'll use Ask.com but I did add it to my Firefox searchbox engines which greatly ups the probablity that I will check it out.

Funny pun. What I like about ask.com is the "save" feature, but it would be pretty hard for any search site to rid me of my automatic-google habit.
