Sailing

As of yesterday afternoon I am officially certified to rent sailboats on Lake Merritt. The class was three long days, mostly with too little or too much wind. I learned a lot about sailing, the wind, the boat, rigging, capsizing, and that I don't have the patience for small boats which lose momentum every time the wind starts to die right by the dock so that even though the dock is only a few yards away it takes half an hour to get there. But enough of the little El Toro's we learned in, now I can rent a Capri and take passengers, or a Catamaran, or Sunfish and if I feel real ambitious in a month I can take the Dinghy II class on the Estuary!
