Sailor Sailor

Today I made a valiant attempt at taking a visiting crew member sailing. We called the sailing center before heading up to the lake to make sure there was enough wind. The nice lady on the phone said yes there was a nice breeze so Bucci and I packed a couple jackets, some water and off we went. The sailing center rigged the boat for us, we got going and wandered out to the middle of the lake. Unfortuately we were more drifting than sailing. To make matters more complicated a plethora of 5th graders were out on the lake having their first kayaking experience. I tried to get some wind, pushed the tiller this way and that, moved the sail around how I could, even let Bucci have a try. Once in while we caught a gust mostly we just floated. Could they tell from the shore we had absolutely no chance at getting the boat back to the dock? Eventually my knight in shining armor sailing instructor came to the rescue. He instructed me on just how to catch the slight wind and eventually towed us back with his motorboat. Two and a half hours of sunshine, frustration and a free sailing lesson. Not a total disaster but I can see why the word usually assosciated with Sailor is drunk.
