Angel Island
Angel Island is one of my favorite spots in the bay area. It all starts with the ferry ride over which passes the Port of Oakland, the Bay Bridge, San
Francisco and Alcatraz. On Angel Island we hiked up Mt. Livermore, whose 750ft summit affords tremendous views of the bay. Yesterday from the top, my dad and I sat and watched a sailboat race unfold against the backdrop of the Golden Gate bridge. The ferry home is not until 3:00 so there is always time to sit in the sun and watch people and boats come and go from Ayala Cove. We must have seen 1,000 people leaving on the ferries during the hour we sat on the dock. A nice hike, a good boat ride, a time to relax and watch the sailboats go by a trip to Angel Island is always a good day.
