What took so long

Last month for the first time ever Toyota surpassed Ford in cars sold in the US. The margin of victory was a scant 487 cars but who's counting. Even more telling Toyota's sales reflected a 16% increase while Ford's showed a 32% drop. It's been a long road for Toyota which started selling cars in the US nearly 50 years ago and prducing them in this country only twenty years ago. Let's face it they make a good car. My parents started buying Toyotas in 1980 and since then have bought three more Toyotas and one Honda (just to try something different). That's two and a half cars a piece over twenty six years, and that's probably all the cars they'll ever buy. Maybe Toyota's been selling less vehicles all these years because their cars last so darn long!
