Here we go!

Strolling BestBuy a few weeks ago I noticed a big box containing a Dance pad as used in Dance Dance Revolution. I love watching the kids at the arcade(that's probably the wrong word but I don't know what they call video game places these days) play DDR. The tops of their bodies stay amaingingly still, their eyes fixated on the screen as arrows float by and their feet stomping the moves in perfect sync whith the arrows. The kids who are good move their feet fast and hardly miss a step. I've never tried the game but it looks incredibly fun. How neat that Nintendo thought to bring this to the home market where you could play in the privacy of your own home. But the real genius of Nintendo is the creation of Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix. What could be more fun than dancing with Mario accompanied by the Mario songs. When Mario64 came out the character just screamed energy, he has so much fun running and jumping along with the happy music. Mario DDR has the typical Mario story, but you use the dance pad to move, jump, stomp out bad guys, manouver through mini games. Nintendo's strength is creating innovative player experiences and DDR seems like a genius way to do it. I haven't bought the game and probably won't but it sure looks like fun.
