Two Buck Amaicha

There has been much written about Two Buck Chuck (3 buck chuck in the east) over the past few years, most of it good. This week Trader Joe's brings us something even better - Amaicha Bonarda from Argentina on sale for just $1.99. Proceeds from the sale of this wine are donated to build a school in Aimacha de Valle, Argentina. Forgive me for being skeptical but I have a hard time believing a 750ml bottle of anything imported from Argentina can be sold at $1.99 for a profit no matter how poorly made the bottle looks. The shipping costs alone must be more than $1.99 and wouldn't there be a tariff? But I bought a bottle, haven't tried it yet but the Bonarda seems to get fairly good reviews for a sub $2 wine. To be fair, it usually retails for $3.99. Even if it isn't very good at least I can feel like I donated to building a school in Argentina.

Actually, shipping by sea on the super freighters of the world is the least expensive shipping there is!
