Blog Annoyances

Regular readers of the 880Blog may have noticed the author took a bit of a hiatus this spring. Of the various reasons for this one that shouldn't have happened tops the list. I unthinkingly converted to the "new and improved" blogger with its promise of ease of use. The first thing that happened was that my login got all messed up and for a while I couldn't find the blog. Then when I eventually did I couldn't fix the problem I've created so logging in is still more cumbersome than it should be. The second barrier I encountered is I can't upload pictures into my template the way I used to. Supposedly the new and improved blogger makes customizing your template easier using plug and play modules for pictures, links etc. But I like the freedom of customizing my template through basic html so I haven't wanted to convert to the new template format. However I used to be able to post a picture on a scratchpad blog then grab it and put it in the 880Blog template but that no longer works. I have to post the picture somewhere like flickr in order to grab it. And then it's cluttering my flickr pages. I still haven't come up with a good solution which is why the same book stayed on the sidebar for months and the template picture hasn't changed since December. So the template may lack some updating but I've resolved to start regular posts again. And if you've read this far then thank you for caring so much about this blog!
