It's not often you make a fashion faux pas while hiking. But there I was at the Orinda Bart station approaching the hiking group I was to meet when to my horror I saw another woman there with the same shirt I was wearing! I kept my long sleeve top on as long as possible but as we climbed up the first hill the sun came out in force and I had to shed my outer layer to reveal the blue North Face shirt underneath. About once an hour thereafter someone would say "hey you two are wearing the same shirt". Then we would start the explanation, it's a great shirt, it has a side pocket, the material is cool and wicking, it has a collar to keep the sun off, it never looks wrinkled and most importantly it was on sale. Oh and I also have it in pink. It happened to be one of my favorite walks this weekend Orinda Bart to Rockridge Bart led by my favorite Sierra club hike leader. The hike starts out through EBMUD land, over the hills through Tilden Park and comes back to civilization high above the Berkeley campus with tremendous views out over Oakland and the bay. At which point everyone starts pointing out where they live and tries to decipher which highway is which. Somehow everything looks different when you're looking down from above. We then descend down into Berkeley and Oakland finally winding our way to the the Rockridge Bart. Oh how wonderful to be able to leave the car at home!
