Voting California

Election Day is Tuesday and I have yet to read the 191 page California Official Voter Information Guide sent to me by Secretary of State Bruce McPherson. It may already to be too late to make informed decisions for the coming election. In addition to the above mentioned guide there's additional research to be done on candidates not presented in the guide, there's also the Alameda County Voter Information Pamphlet to be read and how can I vote for a Member of the State Board of Equalization without knowing what a Board of Equalization does. My friend and her husband, recent immigrants who are voting in her first US election, requested absentee ballots so they could take their time filling out their selections. They've spent three hours on it so far and still haven't finished. Millions of dollars are being spent on commercials for and against many of the sixteen propositions on the ballot. But as in all advertising there's no way to know who to trust. Bill Clinton is in favor of Prop. 87 Alternative Energy, Research, Production, Incentives. Tax on California Oil Producers. Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute. If Bill Clinton's for it then I am too - that's one down just 15 propositions and 26 people to go.
