It's not looking good

The mother and calf whale duo who wandered up to the Port Of Sacramento aren't cooperating with the marine mammal folks trying to lure them back out to sea. Biologists have been broadcasting whale sounds, similar to a tactic used in 1985, hoping the two would follow but the whales aren't interested. One has to wonder how a whale finds itself so far up a river. You would think they have some way of sensing salt content and would turn themselves around when water was too fresh.

Update: The whales are headed in the right direction but still have a long way to go.
