Quiet Before the Storm

It occurred to me yesterday that today is election day and I had not received my sample ballot in the mail. I then realized I had no idea what I was supposed to be voting on, I hadn't gotten a single flyer or seen a TV commercial asking for my vote. On checking the Alameda County election page I found out nobody is asking for my vote. Not the US government, not the State of California, the County of Alameda or the City of Oakland, this year they each said I do not need to hear your voice in this democracy. Next year it will be a different story.
