Other Worlds

I like to think I know a little about the geek world. But today I wandered around Wondercon's San Francisco Comic Convention and realized I knew nothing. I had not heard of 90% of the heroes, stories or characters being featured. Aisles and aisles of books, dvd's, action figures, T-shirts, I was lost. Sure there was the smattering of booths hawking Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, Heroes wares but that's not where the action was. There were thousands of comic books, it's amazing to think of all the creative power that went into their production. Many of the artists were there, happy to sign a book or draw a fan or just idly sketching. The crowd was diverse, not exceptionally nerdy maybe a lot of them like me came just to get a glimpse of something different.
