Nostalgia

Why do they do things like this? I have fond memeories of Doom,or rather Doom 2 - the highpower new computer, the over the top Logitech joystick, the neighbors knocking on the door in the middle of the night - their walls shaking from the boom boom boom. Good times. Then I had the Doom dreams. Dreams so real I don't need a movie I lived it and it was terrifying. I tried to stop but of course along came Half Life and Quake and Quake III. At some point I gave it up and these days I prefer games that involve stealth like Splinter Cell or engaging characters like Link. I still like blowing things up I just want a little more to my game, maybe I'm getting slow, maybe I'm getting old. I won't see the movie I like remembering Doom the way it was - 6 inches from my face, shaking the walls, entering my dreams.
