Showing Up
Woody Allen said "Eighty Percent of success is showing up". I'd be willing to say it's closer to 90%. If you schedule an interview with me just show up, I'm not asking for much, I'm not asking you to be the perfect person for the job, it might be a terrible fit, but you'll never know if you don't show up. It'll make you happy that at least you went on an interview in your struggle to find a new job, it'll make me feel good that I'm at least getting people who want to interview. But instead there's a whole string of people disappointed. I've seen a good person fired because she couldn't show up to work. I've had times when I've been terrible at doing my job but at least I was there and sometimes that's all the company needs is just someone who will show up.
On another note I've never seen the skies turn from dark, downpouring, grey to crystal clear blue with soft bouncy clouds then back again to menacing grey as often or as suddenly as I have over the last five days. One minute winter rain, an hour later the hope of spring in full sunshiny glory.
