A visit to the laundromat
While a lot of the country basks in the warmth of Spring, the Bay Area is being hit by a spell of arctic air. Nevertheless as part of the spring cleaning I trekked to the laundromat today to wash the duvet covers. I enjoy a trip to the laundromat every six months or so. The sounds and smell of laundry, are comforting, warm and clean. I have a good hour to comfortably read my book in a sunlit window, with the background of whirring machines and Chinese conversation. Though vastly less expensive than the cleaners a laundromat is not exactly cheap. Everytime I'm there I thank my small, stackable washing machine that I don't have to scrounge around for quarters every week. The big dryers are the best part, the duvet cover spins and falls, drying quickly and practically wrinkle free.
Then I get home and face the daunting task of putting the duvet cover back on the duvet. My preferred method is to turn the cover inside out, using the corners as gloves to grab the comforter and flip the cover over the comforter. Of course this doesn't quite work I end up having to pull the cover down over the comforter and some areas come out lumpy while in others there's nothing but cover. I stand on the bed and try to shake it all into place. But still I think there must be an easier way. For sure the internet must have a solution . Alas the best I can find is confirmation that I'm using the correct method I just need some practice. Though I think longer arms would help.
