Ten Years

Ten years ago, give or take a week, I first took up residency in California. I was never much of a midwesterner so when opportunity knocked with a chance to move to the west coast I readily walked out the door.

This could be a post about what happened during the last ten years. About moving halfway across the country and back again and then back again. It could be about seven different apartments, about a dozen jobs good and bad, about business school, about working for someone who has always believed in me. It could be about a broken hip or a broken heart, about marriage and divorce. Or about mountains and oceans and 10,000 lakes, or learning how to kickbox, snowboard, paint, sail and how to live on my own. It could be about making new friends and hanging onto or giving up the old, about reconnecting with family, or about trust and betrayal. Or it could be about digital cameras, cell phones, ipods, blogs, Nintendo, or the rise and fall of the New York Yankees.

But those of you who know me know most of those stories. Those of you who don't, maybe some of them will come out in this blog bit by bit, and some of it is best forgotten all together. A decade ago I made a choice to move which eventually led me to where I am now, a place I want to stay for a while.
