State of The Blog

Most bloggers, (casual bloggers that is not the pros), come to a point where they stop maintaining the blog. Whether through a conscious decision to end the blog, or a slow deterioration of posts it fades away. I've thought that way myself, the novelty has worn off a bit, and I'm not real happy with the new Blogger. It started as an exercise in learning to blog, and in an exercise in writing purely for myself. I got really into it and over nearly two years I've put up on average a post every other day. But when I got into it I told a few people about it and then it wasn't just for myself anymore but then there's an audience. And with an audience comes an expectation of being interesting and well written. So the posting deteriorates into safe ordinariness with nothing to say. The other problem is the ups and downs of the business of life itself. When I'm doing lots of stuff and have a lot to blog about there's no time to blog and when I get into a rut of sameness well then there's time but nothing to blog about. And then of course there is the problem of not being able to find the words to describe how incredible a vacation was. But then again that's what this blog is for, to practice writing about things whether it be the pleasure of eating raspberries fresh from the farmer's market, a walk across the Yorkshire moors in the pouring rain or a quick note on the Yankees. So where is all this headed? I don't know but I'd like to think I'll start regular blogging again.
