A Most Unusual Post

Barbie's come a long way since Kristin Franz and I both got Ballerina Barbie for Christmas 1976. Looking up that link I found out she was the Sears Department Store special that year, I guess I wish I hadn't known that. The dangers of the information superhighway. Ballerina Barbie was awesome, she flexed in all sorts of unnatural ways, had a crown, carried flowers, stood up in a cheesy white plastic stand. Since then the wonder doll has started a band, joined the army and the navy, ridden a Harley, ran for president and had that whole messy break up with Ken. I hear he hasn't been the same since.

I'm a single mom and try not to spoil the cat, but with all the pitiful meowing what's a person to do? Now for the cat who has everything Mattel has introduced a line of fashionable, pink Barbie accessories. There's collars, brushes, a carrier and of course toys. How could I resist a Barbie mouse, it's fluffy, it's sparkly, it's tail is stretchy and did I mention it's pink. Not fuschia or some sort of hot trendy pink but pure, beautiful, princess pink. The cat's like a kitty in a field of catnip (maybe do to Mattel's putting the aromatic herb inside the pink mouse). Finally childless pet owners can share the memories of our youth with our cats. Brilliant!
