It's The Little Things
It's all the little things that need doing that when piled up make life just annoying. One of those was the sratus of my iPod battery. When all the angry hype was going around about how ridiculous it was that you couldn't change the battery in the iPod without paying a fortune to Apple I largely ignored it. Who would have thought I'd still be using my iPod two years after I bought it? I use it when walking to work, I use it when working out it sometimes adds up to an hour a day. So it's incredibly annoying to find the battery running out after a day's use. If I didn't remember to charge it overnight I'd have a very boring walk to work. So I checked out Apple's battery replacement program. Turns out they don't actually replace the battery they send you a whole new iPod. Thus the ridiculous $69.95 cost to replace. Not only that but you have to give them your iPod. For an engraved iPod you have to give them your iPod for three weeks. That's just may be the stupidest customer service plan I've ever heard. But you can actually replace the battery yourself. So I ordered up a replacement kit online, sat down for half an hour this afternoon and put in a new battery. And it was relatively easy. The only hard part is prying off the white caps on the end. The rest just takes a little care and patience but there's nothing particularly tricky about it. I was amazed when I put everything back together, charged it up and it worked, I couldn't believe it was that simple. Apple knows how to make money no doubt about it but the way they go about it is so annoying I get mad that I ever bought an iPod in the first place.
On a completely different note. Needing a little zip in my livingroom decor I skinned the Wii with a pretty in pink skin from Decalgirl. Though it wasn't the easiest thing to put on I am thoroughly pleased with the end result. It looks completely professional and the best thing is the decal doesn't leave any sticky residue when removed so I can change it anytime I want. Nintendo is fantastic, but everyone needs a little color in their life!
