Accessorize!
A couple of must have camera accessories for the digital camera enthusiast:
Gorillapod: My brother got me this a couple of
Christmases ago. I don't use it as often as I should. There's no excuse really it's lightweight and small enough to fit in my pocket. Usually I forget that I have it. Putting the camera on a tripod would greatly improve the pictures I take in low light or those that are zoomed way in. Not to mention all the great pictures I could be taking of myself! I probably need to leave the Gorillapod out where I can see it instead of putting it away in a drawer so I remember to use it more often.
Aquapac: this is a new one for me. I just got the Aquapac yesterday for an upcoming kayak trip but I sure could have used this when I was in England last summer! The patented Aquaclip system seals the camera in the bag with two easy twist of the levers. And from my test in the kitchen sink - it works perfectly. Aquapac has also been tested by the British Standards Institute and is guaranteed waterproof down to 15 feet. But maybe the best feature for a kayaker is that when sealed with all that air in the Aquapac the camera floats! You can take pictures through the clear plastic window and the rest of the bag is flexible enough that with some effort you can push the tiny buttons on the back of the camera. My only criticism of the Aquapac is it's a little big for my camera but the smaller size would inhibit the lens zoom. It's great protection from sand and dirt as well. Look for underwater photos appearing on this site soon!
