Mt. Diablo Wildflowers

The wildflowers are out in full force at Mt. Diablo. Spring is such a wonderful time, the hills are green and flowers abound. I saw quite a bounty of flowers last weekend while traipsing over Eagle Peak and Twin Peaks on the side of Mt Diablo with the Sierra club, and the season is just beginning! The most amazing part is seeing not just a flower here and there but bunches and bunches of them along the trail, covering the hillsides, popping out of the rocks. Soon the hillsides will all be brown, but for a few weeks the East Bay hills are a canvas of color. There were probably more that I forgot but here's a list: California Poppy, MilkMaid, Bluedick, Baby Blue Eyes, White Baby Blue Eyes, Rock Cress, Wall Flower, Caymas, Wild Cucumber, Indain Paintbrush, Indian Warrior, Larkspur, Delphinium, Mission Bells, Shooting Star, Starflower, Fiddleneck, Houndstongue, Buttercup, Red Maid.
